McPherson County Special Education Cooperative has an immediate opening for a bus monitor substitute.
Summary
To assist in providing safe transportation of students may enjoy fullest possible advantage from the district’s curriculum and extracurricular program.
Hours
Depending on the route anywhere from 1-5 hours a day as needed. Hours fall between the hours of 6:45am-4:00pm.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Qualifications Requirements
1. High School diploma or its equivalent.
2. Criminal history record from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position will be the following:
- Assists the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.
- Assists young or students with disabilities in getting on and off the bus.
- Provides written records of violations of the student code to the transportation supervisor.
- Collects and turns over to the school secretary those personal items left on bus by students.
5. Assist students with disabilities in regards to positioning and health and safety matters.
Language Skills
Ability to verbally communicate with students, parents, teachers, principals and supervisor. Ability to read a map read written directions and follows verbal directions.
Mathematic Skills
Ability to tell time.
Technology Skills
Ability to operate a two-way radio and cellular telephone.
Reasoning Skills
Ability to solve practical problems related to personnel, student behavior, vehicle maintenance, including emergency situations.
