                     Job Title:     Secretary

 

                Salary Level:      Classified wage schedule, plus a benefit package.

 

                          Shift:      7:15am - 3:15pm with half-hour lunch (M-F)

 

          Benefit Package:      According to district classified employee policies.

 

    Duration of Contract:     196 day contract

 

                     Location:      Eisenhower Elementary School

Summary

Carry out office and related tasks in an independent, effective manner to ensure the smooth operation of Eisenhower Elementary.

 

Education and Experience                                                          

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or formal secretarial/clerical training preferred, but not required.

 

Qualifications Requirements

 

  1. Education in secretarial field beyond high school and/or strong high school secretarial course background.
  1. A minimum of one month experience in a secretarial position of responsibility.
  1. Have strong computer and word processing skills to complete work in an accurate and efficient manner.
  1. Clear criminal history record from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 The essential duties and responsibilities of this position will be the following:

 

  1. Responsible for reporting daily attendance.
  1. Assists staff with questions or problems regarding attendance, discipline, activities, athletics, etc.
  1. Monitors attendance reports and facilitates communications with families and/or County Attorney/DCF.
  1. Communicates and relates successfully with staff, parents, students, and community in a discreet and confidential manner.
  1. Keeps documentation of activities/athletics paperwork through Powerschool, KSHSAA, etc.
  1. Assists in receiving and relaying incoming calls, messages and visitors in confidential, efficient, and pleasant manner.
  1. Other duties as determined by the Principal.

 

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general educational documents, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.   Ability to edit reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals.

 

Mathematic Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.   Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Technology Skills

Operation of computer keyboard and telephone equipment is essential.  Knowledge of basic computer operations of database management, spreadsheet, and word processing are fundamentals to many of the job functions of this position.

 

Reasoning Skills

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
