McPherson School District has an immediate opening for an immediate opening for a bus driver.
Summary
The bus driver will assume responsibility for the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school and school activities. The driver will recognize safety as a priority, yet promote student friendly atmosphere.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Current CDL license with passenger endorsement, and has a safe driving record.
- Air brake endorsement.
- First Aid, CPR and defensive driving
- Criminal history record from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position will be the following:
- Obeys all traffic laws.
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Maintains discipline when students are on bus.
- Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
- Keeps assigned bus clean.
- Keeps to assigned schedule.
- Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
- Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
- Discharges students only at authorized stops.
- Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
- Transports only authorized students.
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
- Enforces bus rules.
- Check bus at the end of each route to make sure all students are off.
- Maintaining daily route reports.
Language Skills
Ability to verbally communicate with students, parents, teachers, principals and supervisor. Ability to read a map read written directions and follows verbal directions. Ability to complete route logs.
Mathematic Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to record time and mileage.
Technology Skills
Ability to operate a two-way radio and cellular telephone.
Reasoning Skills
Ability to solve practical problems related to personnel, student behavior, vehicle maintenance, including emergency situations.
